Growing Standard LLC

Built by a teacher. Inside a classroom.

We make K-12 learning software the way we wish ours had been made — with students the teacher actually knows, in a room the teacher runs.

Why we exist

Built to pass the real test: would a 9-year-old open it on a Saturday?

Learning software can check every pedagogical box and still lose the student the moment practice becomes optional. We design against that question first, then let instructional rigor follow.

The instructional content is standards-aligned and research-informed. What keeps students coming back is a quiet collection layer — a potato companion to customize, accessories and pets and a space to decorate — that sits alongside practice rather than in front of it. The presentation deliberately avoids countdown timers and big celebrations dressed up as the point; students practice because thinking is satisfying, and the collection is what the work looks like to a child.

How we build

Small team. Real classrooms. Fixes the same week.

Features are tested in real classrooms as we build them, and the 2026–27 pilot cohort is where we'll formally study them alongside teacher partners. When a teacher tells us something doesn't work, we fix it that week — not next quarter.

What we make

One product for students. One tier for schools and districts.

Potato Class (potatoclass.com) is the K-12 math and reading platform students use — free for individual teachers, licensed to schools and districts.

Growing Standard for Districts adds admin dashboards, MTSS tiering with intervention tracking and extension supports for advanced learners, equity and subgroup reporting, custom standards crosswalks, and implementation support.
