No in-app purchases in the school product:When a student signs in via a school roster, the app shows zero subscribe buttons, zero lock symbols, and zero ads. The license unlocks the full library, the extra games, and the Grow assessment for the whole roster, so the student simply has full access — the school or district is the buyer, and the student is never marketed to. (The separate Family Plus consumer subscription described below is only visible to parents on personal/home accounts.)
For parents on personal accounts:Every child gets the free floor — all practice, all cosmetics, a starter book set, and the free game. Family Plus is a separate consumer subscription ($9.99/month or $59.99/year) that unlocks the full library, the extra games, and the grade-level adaptive assessment for their child — plus the assessment readout and skill-by-skill progress detail for the parent. Stripe-administered, cancel anytime, no trial. The subscribe button lives quietly on the player’s stats screen so a parent can find it; children never see it on a school-rostered account.
For individual teachers: Any teacher can create a class and use the free floor with their students at no cost. Teacher Plus is a separate consumer subscription ($9.99/month or $59.99/year) for a single teacher with up to 40 students. It unlocks the full library, the extra games, and the Grow grade-level assessment for the teacher’s rostered students — and gives the teacher test & Grow assignment, an own-class data dashboard, lessons, and a standards crosswalk (choose any state’s standards). Grow reports a grade-level approximation — a placement on a grade-equivalent scale to guide instruction; it is not a validated, normed, or diagnostic test. The institutional layer — MTSS, equity analytics, district roll-up, SIS/Clever rostering, and the central admin portal — stays with a School or District license. Stripe-administered, cancel anytime, no trial.
Procurement: We accept purchase orders with net-30 invoicing and ACH. No payment card data is collected, processed, or stored — billing is arranged via direct invoice.
What the school/district license covers
The free floor — all practice, cosmetics, a starter book set, and the free game — reaches every student. The per-student license unlocks the depth above it: the full library, the extra games, the Grow assessment, and the features that require school-level infrastructure.
The full game set
The whole catalogue of curriculum-aligned games with embedded math practice — Math Maze, Fraction Kitchen, and more — on top of the free game every student already gets. Students play while practicing the skills they need most.
The full library
100+ leveled books across every grade band with built-in dictionary and comprehension questions — beyond the starter book each student gets free.
Teacher-led lessons
280+ 5-phase lesson plans that automatically sync with student needs. Live monitoring shows who's stuck, auto-remediation steps students down (concrete → visual → symbolic), and exit tickets score themselves.
Grow assessment
Research-informed adaptive placement across 3 windows per year, using the same computer-adaptive testing approach as major commercial diagnostics. Two pre-registered analysis plans are publicly deposited (a concurrent-validity study against state assessment results, commercial diagnostics, and teacher judgment, plus a practice-engagement-and-growth study); each locks formally after academic methodologist review, before any pilot data flows. Empirical calibration and norming follow once cumulative pilot enrollment supports them. Testing stops as soon as it has enough info, flags students who are rushing, and tracks growth over time — designed to finish in about 20-25 minutes.
Teacher dashboards
Progress monitoring, per-question analysis to see exactly where reteaching is needed, test creation, class goals, and PDF/CSV reports.
Compliance + rostering
District-signed DPAs, FERPA & COPPA alignment, ClassLink SSO + roster sync. Clever Library certification in progress; Google and Apple sign-in available today.
MTSS + equity
Automatically group students by support level (Tier 1/2/3), track interventions, surface extension activities for advanced learners, and get alerts when subgroups fall behind — built-in MTSS workflow with equity dashboards.

Frequently asked
What is free, and what costs money?
Every student gets a free floor with real substance: all math and reading practice (K-12), all cosmetics and skins, adaptive difficulty, progress tracking, a starter book set each grade (fiction and nonfiction), and the free game. The full library, the extra games, and the Grow adaptive assessment come with a School or District license, or — for families on home accounts — with Family Plus. The school product still has zero in-app purchases for students: a child on a school-rostered account sees no subscribe buttons, no lock symbols, and no ads.
Is there a separate consumer subscription for parents?
Yes — Family Plus is a consumer subscription for parents on personal/home accounts ($9.99/month or $59.99/year). It unlocks the full library, the extra games, and the grade-level adaptive assessment for their child, plus the assessment readout and skill-by-skill progress detail. Stripe-administered, cancel anytime, no trial. The subscribe button is only visible on personal accounts; children on school-rostered accounts never see it, and every child keeps the free floor whether or not a parent subscribes.
Can an individual teacher buy access for their class?
Yes — Teacher Plus is a consumer subscription for a single teacher with up to 40 students ($9.99/month or $59.99/year). It unlocks the full library, the extra games, and the Grow grade-level assessment for the teacher's rostered students, and gives the teacher test and Grow assignment, an own-class data dashboard, lessons, and a standards crosswalk. Grow reports a grade-level approximation — a placement on a grade-equivalent scale — not a validated, normed, or diagnostic score. Larger rosters and the institutional tools (MTSS, equity analytics, district roll-up, SIS/Clever rostering, admin portal) need a School or District license. Stripe-administered, cancel anytime, no trial.
How is the per-student rate calculated?
We count enrolled students in the roster, not concurrent users. Schools pay a flat $15/student/year regardless of size. Districts pay $12/student/year, dropping to $9/student/year at 10,000+ students. 25,000+ students receive a custom enterprise quote.
What does implementation look like?
We roster your teachers and students via ClassLink or CSV-free Google/Apple sign-in (Clever support is built and awaiting Library certification), run a launch PD session, and hand off a getting-started guide. Rostering is built for same-day setup, and the whole rollout is designed to take a school or district live in about two weeks.
Do you sign district-specific DPAs?
Yes. We'll sign your state's Student Data Privacy Agreement (SDPC) or a district-specific DPA. We are COPPA and FERPA aligned and do not sell student data.
Is there a pilot option?
Yes. We offer semester-long pilots at the school level with a reduced rate and success-metric reporting. Contact partnerships@growingstandard.com to set one up.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept purchase orders with net-30 invoicing and ACH bank transfer. Districts typically pay by PO — send us your purchase order and we'll issue an invoice. No payment card data is collected, processed, or stored by Growing Standard.
How does Growing Standard relate to Potato Class?
Potato Class is the student-facing product. Growing Standard LLC is the company that builds, sells, and supports it for schools and districts.
