Please read these terms carefully before using Potato Class.
By accessing or using Potato Class (“the App”) at potatoclass.com, you agree to these Terms. If you are a parent or guardian, you agree on behalf of your child. If you are a school or district administrator, you agree on behalf of your institution and its students.
Potato Class is an educational math and reading application for students in grades K through high school. It provides interactive math practice aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning across 1,000+ skill tiers, an adaptive reading-level assessment with growth tracking across three annual testing windows, a digital reading library with annotation tools, customizable characters, a voice assistant supporting 11 languages, educational mini-games, and classroom collaboration tools. Multiple student profiles can be created under a single sign-in for family use. The student-facing application is free for students and families — the school product has no in-app purchases, no consumer subscriptions, and no advertising. Schools and districts may purchase annual per-student licenses that unlock additional classroom features (teacher dashboards, the digital library, teacher-led lessons, the Grow adaptive assessment, and multiplayer games); these institutional licenses are arranged out-of-app via purchase order or ACH bank transfer through direct invoicing with Growing Standard LLC.
Potato Class is accessible at potatoclass.com in any modern web browser. It offers sign-in via Google, Apple, or Clever SSO for cloud sync and classroom features. Anonymous use (without sign-in) is also supported on the web.
You may use the App anonymously (web only) or sign in with Google, Apple, or Clever SSO to save progress across devices. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Anonymous users store data locally in the browser only.
Children under 13. Children under 13 may not create their own account. A parent or legal guardian must create a personal Potato Class account and create a child profile inside that account, providing verifiable parental consent per the procedure described in our Privacy Policy. By creating a child profile, the parent or legal guardian represents that they have the legal authority to consent on behalf of the child. Alternatively, schools may create accounts on behalf of students as permitted under COPPA (see Section 10).
Multiple profiles in family mode. A personal account (Apple, Google, or email) may hold up to eight child profiles, with a hard limit of twelve enforced server-side. Each child profile is its own learning record. Each profile may carry an optional 4-digit PIN (stored as a SHA-256 hash) to limit accidental profile switching. School-mode accounts (Clever, ClassLink, or a school-domain Google account) are limited to exactly one profile per signed-in user.
Co-parents.A second adult with their own personal account may join a family using the family’s join code. By joining, the co-parent agrees to these Terms and provides their own verifiable parental consent for each child in the family. Co-parents may view the roster, assign content, and review progress. Only the family owner (the parent who originally created the family) may remove a co-parent, transfer ownership, or delete the family. A co-parent may leave the family at any time.
Potato Class includes AiPa, a voice assistant that speaks pre-authored educational content in 11 languages. All spoken text is written by the developer — no student-generated content is sent to any external service. AiPa provides encouragement, math and reading guidance, and contextual help through pre-written responses. Speech is synthesized using the device’s built-in text-to-speech engine(the browser’s Web Speech API on web, AVSpeechSynthesizer on iOS). No cloud AI voice service is used. No runtime calls are made to any LLM or generative-AI service.
You agree to use the App only for its intended educational purpose. You may not access other users’ accounts or data, reverse-engineer or tamper with the App, use it for unauthorized commercial purposes, or circumvent security features.
The student-facing application as offered today has no in-app purchases and no consumer subscriptions. No payment information of any kind is collected, processed, or stored by us from a student device in the school product. School and district licenses are sold to institutions through direct invoicing (purchase order or ACH) outside the application; no payment card data is collected, processed, or stored by Growing Standard in connection with those licenses.
All original content — including character designs, questions, reading passages, visuals, code, and voice-assistant scripts — is the property of Growing Standard LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. Certain audio assets, including background music, are AI-generated and used under commercial license (bundled as static files; no runtime AI calls). You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any content in the App without written permission.
The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Voice-assistant content is supplementary — not a substitute for classroom instruction. Math and reading assessment results are intended as educational tools and should be interpreted alongside other assessment data. Percentile rankings are estimated from preliminary norms and will be refined with usage data.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Growing Standard LLC shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.
Schools and districts using Potato Class agree to comply with FERPA and COPPA. Schools serve as the parent’s agent for data collection consent under COPPA and are responsible for notifying parents. Access to premium classroom features (teacher dashboards, the digital library, teacher-led lessons, the Grow adaptive assessment, and multiplayer games) requires an active school or district license issued by Growing Standard LLC. Licenses are granted per enrolled student for the contract term and may be activated, suspended, or expired by the institution or by Growing Standard in accordance with the signed agreement. On termination of the agreement, per-student data belonging to the institution is hard-destroyed within 60 days, as further described in our Privacy Policy. We will enter into Student Data Privacy Agreements (district SDPC addenda or state templates) upon request. Math and reading assessment data, including growth tracking, is accessible to classroom teachers and authorized school or district administrators for educational purposes, and every read of an identifiable student record is written to an auditable access log.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms. Users may stop using the App at any time. We will honor all data deletion requests per our Privacy Policy.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States.
