Notice to Schools and Teachers About Student Information

Growing Standard LLC, operator of Potato Class · Version 1.0, September 17, 2026

This notice is for the school or the teacher who adds students to a Potato Class class. It describes what Potato Class collects about a student the school or teacher enrolls, how that information is used and shared, and what parents can do about it. Please read it before you add any student, and please share it with parents as your school requires.

Why you are receiving this notice

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA, 16 C.F.R. Part 312) requires an online service to obtain a parent’s consent before collecting personal information from a child under 13. The Federal Trade Commission permits a school to provide that consent on the parent’s behalf when the service is used for the school’s educational purposes and for no commercial purpose. When a school, or a teacher acting for the school, enrolls a student in Potato Class, the school is providing that consent. This notice is the direct notice COPPA requires us to give the party providing consent, so that consent is informed.

If you are a teacher, you may enroll students only with your school’s authority or permission, and only where you either hold the parent’s consent or are consenting on the parent’s behalf for the school’s educational purposes. If your school requires parental permission before students use online services, obtain it first. Potato Class may ask you at any time for the records of the consent you are relying on.

Who we are

The operator collecting and maintaining information from students through Potato Class is Growing Standard LLC. The single point of contact for questions about this notice, consent, and requests to review or delete a student’s information is privacy@potatoclass.com.

What we collect about a student you enroll

When you add a student by name, we collect only:

We do not collect precise location, photographs, contacts, voice recordings, advertising identifiers, or biometric information from students. We do not require a student to provide more information than is reasonably necessary to use the service.

How we use it

Student information is used only to provide the educational service: to personalize practice, track progress against learning standards, compute placement and growth measures, keep the student’s progress in one place across devices, and show progress to you and, where the school has a license, to the school’s authorized staff. We do not use student information for advertising or marketing, we do not show advertising to students, we do not sell or rent student information, and we do not use student information to train AI models.

Who can see it

We do not disclose student information to anyone else.

What parents can do

A parent or guardian may at any time:

If a parent withdraws consent, please remove the student from your class promptly. Withdrawing consent may mean the child cannot continue to use Potato Class through the class.

How long we keep it

We keep student information only as long as needed to provide the service to your class, and we delete or de-identify it under our written retention policy, which is summarized in our Privacy Policy. You may request deletion of your whole class’s information at any time from inside the app or by contacting privacy@potatoclass.com.
